Blackburn Youth 2018: The Summer Challenge That Gets You Moving (and Makes a Difference)
This summer, Blackburn Youth 2018s are inviting you to lace up your trainers, explore your local parkruns, and join a feel-good challenge that does more than just boost your step count. The Blackburn 2018 Parkrun Challenge is here — a fun, flexible way to keep families active during the school holidays while raising vital funds for the team’s kit, training gear, and future football trips.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or someone who just enjoys a weekend walk with the kids, this is a challenge for everyone.

So, what’s the challenge?
Inspired by the World Marathon Majors — six global races that runners strive to tick off — we wanted to bring that same sense of achievement closer to home. Instead of travelling the world, this challenge is all about exploring your local parkruns. And the best part? You get to choose which six parkruns you complete — wherever and whenever suits you this summer.
You can walk, jog, run, scoot or cycle (on non-event days) — whatever suits your family’s pace. Kids, parents, grandparents, even the dog can join in. All we ask is that you complete six parkrun routes before the end of the school holidays.
And for those who want even more family-friendly fun, there are two junior parkruns available on Sundays at Duthie Park in Aberdeen and Kellands Park in Inverurie.

Why take part?
Sure, it’s about movement — but it’s also about meaning.
Each entry costs £10, and 100% of this goes directly to the Blackburn Youth 2018 team to help fund:
- New football kits ?
- Training tops ?♂️
- Equipment and accessories ⚽️
- Future team trips and tournaments ?
It’s a simple and healthy way to support the kids while staying active with your own family. And let’s be honest — the summer holidays can feel very long. This gives you a reason to get outdoors, set a goal, and build lasting memories with your kids.
What do I get?
Every participant who completes six parkruns and sends in their photos earns a Blackburn 2018 Parkrun Challenge medal — a shiny keepsake of your summer effort and community spirit. ?
You’ll also have access to a printable Bingo Card to check off your completed runs and feel that satisfying sense of progress as the holidays go on.
