I was delighted to get a spot on this race, even on my anniversary. The weather was overcast, the rain close by but you couldn’t dampen the excitement when walking from the car to Albyn Place.

Meeting the Rebels / Metros before increased the excitement… talks of completion/pbs/race strategy and pacing really helps to add to the atmosphere.
The race start, outside Markies and soon you are off down the historic Union Street, turning down hill into the harbour. It’s a fast start but its a great test of the race plan… unfortunately for me watching my Nephew race into the distance wasn’t part of the plan.
Around the harbour and onto the Fittie end of the beach, a route ran numerous times on the Baker Hughes route, was flat calm with a not so common south to northerly wind.
The route slowly made it’s way along beach before turning back on itself. A great idea as you can see who is a head and who is sneaking up on you. The leaders were at Pittodrie in no time and out of sight when I made the turn.
Up Seaforth over King Street under the under pass and up to Brewdog all up hill but the crowds starting to gather really helped with the climb. Up Carden place and through to Albyn Place where the crowds were fantastic and a real buzz with the runners excited about the half that starts after the 10km.
Down Albyn and 400m of Union Street and your met with so much noise and a set of barriers lined with crowds… my parents and sister were there also which was great!
So Jordan resigned supreme, I completed a beautiful course and left feeling satisfied. Well done to all who raced. Thank you to all who volunteered and see you all next year!!
